Scaling Up Nutrition Movement
NOURISHING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
The Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement Lead Group Annual Meeting took place on Tuesday 24th September at UNICEF Headquarters, New York City, and Prime Production provided simultaneous interpreting for this High Level meeting in English and French.
The first Lead Group of the SUN Movement was appointed in 2012 by former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon. Its 28 members, support the SUN Movement in its mission towards a world free from all forms of malnutrition by 2030.
During this meeting, Lead Group members were asked what they will commit to do differently in the lead up to the SUN Global Gathering in November in Nepal, and the 2020 Nutrition Summit to support SUN Movement member countries to eliminate all forms of malnutrition in a systemic, durable and sustainable way. Their commitments have to be Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time bound (SMART).
It was also an opportunity for the Lead Group to reposition and galvanise commitment behind the SUN Movement within the changing sustainable development landscape. The aim will be to provide a space for all actors to identify actionable nutrition commitments that will accelerate the transformation of people, societies and economies, as we move towards a decade of delivery for the SDGs.
