Languages Learning

Did you know: According to recent statistics, 37% of EU citizens report speaking one foreign language, while 32% report speaking none.

However, some Member States have particularly high knowledge of foreign languages, with more than 90% of respondents knowing at least one foreign language. These countries include Sweden, Latvia, Denmark, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Finland, Malta, and Estonia.

On the other hand, there are four Member States where only half or less than half of the working-age population knew a foreign language: the United Kingdom, Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria.

These statistics highlight the need for increased language learning in order to effectively communicate and compete in today’s global marketplace.
