Since 2010, the SUN Movement has inspired a new way of working collaboratively at a global level to end malnutrition in all its forms. SUN unites people from civil society, the United Nations, donors, businesses and researchers together with the governments of SUN Countries in a collective effort to improve nutrition.

To realise the vision of a world without hunger and malnutrition, the SUN Movement Principles of Engagement act as a guide to those who are working together to end malnutrition.

The SUN Movement complements the “Transforming Our World: 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” which was agreed upon by the 193 Member States of the UN in September 2015, when more than 150 world leaders attended the UN Sustainable Development Summit to formally adopt an ambitious new sustainable development agenda.

The 2030 Agenda builds on the Millennium Development Goals and consists of a Declaration, 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 169 targets, a section on means of implementation and renewed global partnership, and a framework for review and follow-up.
