Global Partnership Senior-Level Meeting

A Senior-Level Meeting of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation is currently taking place in New York at the 2019 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.

The Global Partnership itself was created in 2011 at the Fourth High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Busan, Korea.

Stakeholders from the Partnership work together to strengthen the effectiveness of development co-operation by putting into practice four principles:

(i) ownership of development priorities by developing countries;

(ii) focus on results;

(iii) inclusive partnerships; and

(iv) transparency and mutual accountability.

This meeting is the first of its kind, and will seek to galvanize governments, civil society and other actors into the ‘gear change’ needed to accelerate SDG implementation at the country level and globally; while progress is being made, achieving the 2030 Agenda will require urgent additional efforts.

This SLM will therefore affirm effectiveness as an essential driver for sustainable development, expand the effectiveness ‘network’ by convening development actors on a more equal footing, and explore effectiveness challenges and priorities for the future.
